geek mode on...

rather than hear our fucktard monkey fuhrer sound like the teacher in peanuts cartoons (i'm still waiting for him to say "i will read a book" while holding See Spot Run), i decided to watch the Lynch version of Dune (extended if you please). and it occured to me, that at the end when it starts to rain, that's actually a BAD thing for Arrakis. it's water that brings the eventual destruction of the worms.

worms = spice

no worms = no spice

worms + water = dead worm

as the story progresses, Arrakis mutates from a desert planet to a lush world. worms die. and then Rakis (drops the 'ar', no longer arid?) gets blown up. but that's later on in the story.

holy shit....

they're right. i saw some commercial that said that people eat ~10 billion donuts a year, and that when lined up, it would be enuff to add a ring to saturn. (sorry, don't recall if that was americans or people in general, but i certainly won't put it past us overweight fast food sucking fat fuck americans. at least i'm trying unlike the lardass at work.)

so i wondered, just how long would 10 billion donuts on end be.

using an average of 3" per donut, that made an easy 30 billion inches.

divide that by 12 (inches in 1 foot) and then again by 5280 (feet in a mile).

i got an approximate length of:

10B donuts =~473484.84 miles

according to this government (which makes it immediately suspect) website containing facts on saturn, the equatorial circumference is 235,298 miles.

which means, we really do eat enuff donuts that create an additional ring around saturn.

and on a semi-related note, for you folks who are working on losing weight, but don't seem to feel as tho you are losing much - goto the supermarket and pick up a 1lb package of hamburger. that's how much you are losing. so if you've lost 3 pounds, find a 3lb package (prolly a family size package) of meat (burger, chicken, pork loin, etc) and that's how much you've lost. it really does put weight loss into perspective to look at it that way.

i officially HATE the holster for my phone.

H A T E

not dislike. not 'i don't care for it'.

i fucking HATE it.

M and i went to target after dinner and at some point while walking around the store, it fell out of my holster, and as i wasn't expecting it to, i didn't notice until after we got home.

so a quick panic, and a quick call to see if it was still working (i was afraid it fell out when we were running back to the car in the pouring rain), so i headed out to backtrace where we went (fortunately, not very far). wasn't at the restaurant we had dinner, so i flew back to target where it was waiting for me at the customer service desk. fortunately, it was fine and it must have popped off while walking around, but it was still very frustrating. at least i didn't lose it when we were in wrentham...that would have really sucked.

but i paid my taxes LAST year

how fucking depressing. in the last of my PC Magazine subscription, they included a free copy of Tax Cut (Federal only, no State) so i figured i'd see where things stood. last year i got refunds for both state and federal.

this year, the software says i owe money.

OWE them money. thankfully, it's only $40, but still.

i have 2 words for our Monkey Fuhrer led government.

FUCK YOU!

(all apologies to the chimps pictured)

we'll see what happens when i take some time to go thru it a little more carefully.

today's commute into work can be wonderfully summarized by the following quote from Spaceballs:

well, i can go home

it looks as tho the exchange server is going to be happy for the moment. fortunately, it finished doing it's thing after 4pm, so most of the agency has left, so it will have a little time to recover before it gets a beating from the (L)user community.

woo.

fuck, fuck, fuckity fuck

i want to say that i posted something about our exchange server a little while ago about how it was running out of space (i think i've mentioned it a few times way back when) but the latest nail in the coffin was it happened again this afternoon.

only this time rather than moving the public data store to a separate drive, i'm moving the whole fucking private store to that drive, and when that finishes (it's been moving for the last 60+ minutes) i'll move the public store back to where it was originally.

priv goes to the f: drive
pub goes to the d: drive

f: drive has ~17gb available
d: drive has ~15.9gb available.

and the most frustrating part about all of this is that exchange 5.5 has a private store maximum size of 16gb.

so i'm hoping that in the short term, the new (to the priv) additional room will give it a chance to a) reach that 16gb max and then b) (my biggest hope) will force exchange to do it's little purgey routine that will clean things up and prevent me from having to drag my ass into work tomorrow night and for me to tape Lost because i'll be freezing my ass off in a chilly server room.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST...i damn near shit my pants. i just checked up on how the move was, and sticking my head into the server room i saw and error on the server. fortunately, it's the error we always seem to get when the services start yet doesn't seem to affect anything negatively thus far, so i could handle that. i'm in the process of moving the public store back to d: now, which should take less time (like a fraction of the time) so things should be back up and running (i hope) in the next 30 mins.

because if it ain't, i won't be able to leave here in 31 minutes according to my clock.

here's hoping that all goes well...

huh...

i hadn't realized just how long it's been since i've actually blogged.

long story short - i'm still alive.

saw kong this afternoon with M. i liked it, altho there were certainly moments where i was thinking to myself "you stupid woman". liked kong, thought the movie was well done, altho the first hour tends to drag a bit, and i think you could have accomplished that hour in 1/2 the time easy if you skip over thing. montage some of the scenes, but compress it. i've decided that i certainly do not have gamer's ass (tm). my ass hurt afterwards from sitting for so long.

work has been busy of late, and we've finished our 10 advertised sessions of installing drug books on clinician's laptops. we now have the discression to do it when we want to. guessing that we did less than a 1/3 of the laptops in both offices. it's a mandatory thing for them, so you would have figured they might take a little more interest. nah.

so fuck 'em. we gave them ample opportunities to do it. and i wasn't mean about doing it for a few that stopped by after our scheduled sessions. usually i'm a lot more pissy about stuff like that, but even I was nice.

at least the weather the last few days has been above average. rather than bitter cold, we've had some nice 50's (altho today was rainy) but tomorrow is sposed to be a bitch of a day - bitter cold, wind, snow/sleet/freezing rain. blech.

we'll see how the pat/broncos game ends. just had a bit of crappy luck, but i certainly don't believe that the pats are out of it - there's still a full 15 mins to go.

go pats!
