that was unexpected

this morning i decided that i'd do my monthly 'wear a tie to work just because' thing (that's what it seems to be averaging currently) and all i have gotten from people today are cracks about going on a job interview.

i hadn't really thought about it in that way, but i guess our dress code here in the office is a bit more lax than i give it credit for. when i was hired, i was told by my boss that it was business casual, try to avoid wearing jeans, nice shirt etc. (friday is casual, so i usually wear jeans or in the summer, shorts) but every once in a while, i'll wear a tie to work, just for the sake of wearing a tie to work. RB does it from time to time as well. we'll wake up one morning and decide to dress up a bit, wear a tie, etc. we have yet to actually co-ordinate our tie wearing, which is probably a good thing, but we get a kick out of doing it once in a while. i do it more because i have ties and i figure i may as well wear them from time to time.

now i've done this in the past, and no one has ever said anything to me other than the 'oh, you're wearing a tie' or 'that's a nice tie' but for some reason, today, everyone who has commented on it (with 1 exception i believe) has made a joke about my going on a job interview (or in the case of 1 person, he asked how the job interview went). even my boss made a joke of it.

i spose i'm being overly sensitive about it, i think more because i like working here and subconciously i'm taking offense to the idea that i'd consider looking for another job while i enjoy what i'm doing here.

or maybe i'm just taking the joke to seriously (as i can be prone to do), and after being here for a year, people are actually comfortable enuff with me that they feel they can crack a joke about my wearing a tie.

I was wearing a tie once a week for a while, and finally got totally frustrated by the numerous job interview cracks. Every time! That and Jimbo's not-so-veiled threats to hurt me should we adopt a shirt and tie policy.
Jeez, it's just that I have like 30 ties hanging in the closet...
