the end of april....

well, another week of work has passed. it was still nuts and i was working up until i left in the afternoon, which by that point was technically this evening, but who's counting?

the good news of friday was i figured i had to get 2 laptops ready for monday, but after a fair amount of confusion by everyone (including the non-ellusive TrainWreck), it was decided not to deploy any laptops on monday. it's only 2, but it was 2 more than i DIDN'T have to get ready. hell, i still have to get a bunch ready for tuesday, so i'm still behind, but at least the 2 i thought i would have to deploy, can be rolled into tuesday.

picked up my lunch for the next month or so from stop and shop. i like when they put my lean cuisine's on sale at 50% off. i even went thru my freezer and figured out how many i could buy before i ran out of space in my freezer. it may cost me a small bundle now, but i'd rather pay what i did this evening as it wouldn't pay for my lunch for the next 2 weeks if i bought my lunch on a daily basis. plus it seems to be a bit cheaper than my buying sandwich stuff.

i have darth tater. he's currenting sitting on my tv, but i'll prolly bring him into the office to be envied by all.

or at least by those who don't have one yet and want one. hopefully he won't be stolen. we seem to have this problem of people stealing food in the office. CD left a bag of M&M's, mostly hidden under the paper tray of his printer, only to come into the office monday morning and find that someone had eaten all of them and then placed the empty wrapper back where it had been when they stole them the first time. unfortunately, this isn't the first time. KG used to have sodas and his hot pockets stolen on a semi-regular basis. for a while, if he went a week w/o something being stolen from the fridge, we would be shocked. fortunately, he hasn't had anything stolen from him in a little while.

well, lesse. this afternoon M&i saw Robots. it was fun, and i enjoyed it. lots of little kids in the theater who for the most part were behaved. i won't say well behaved, but behaved. the only one that was driving us nuts was sitting in the same row as us and would for no real reason just start clapping her hands. but it was fun. predictable, but fun and there were a few moments that were really funny.

truth be told, robots passing gas = funny

afterwards, we headed back and had some turkey cabbage soup. M was poking me about how i was being so precise with the recipe, plus making sure that we had everything ready rather than cut and cook and then cook. she likes to experiment and toss stuff together, but i'm a bit more by the book when it comes to cooking. i did however add some ham (which she said added a little smokey depth, and salt) and a 2nd clove of garlic, so i didn't follow it to the letter. plus i don't have any spanish onions.

but it was quite tasty. plus it will help me deal with my vaca gluttony. i have a big pot of it, so i'll be eating it for most of the week which is fine with me. i like it. quite filling.

tomorrow, bright and early (and i do mean bright and EARLY) i'm going to do the 'Project Bread Walk For Hunger'. i haven't done it before, but M&F have and they "talked" me into doing it. so i am. it's a 20 mile walk around boston/newton/watertown/memorial drive which should be fun. we're hoping that the rain that is currently falling really does get out of here by the time we start, but i guess we'll have to wait and see. i even managed to get some of my friends at work to pledge money for it so i don't feel so bad. i've even talked mom into pledging. i do need to get some pictures out to her which will up her pledge amount...

oh, driving back from the movie, i saw a few vanity plates (IZZY and ROADS) which reminded me of the ME Junket - while we were there, i swear, i saw more vanity plates in ME than i have in any state i've visited before. i guess my looking around, and being in ME kicked in my looking for license plates (it was a game we used to play when we'd go up to visit the grandparents, freeport was a boon for plates for obvious reasons). i know there are lots of vanity plates in other states, and i'm sure ME isn't the leader in vanity plates, but it just seemed like everywhere i looked, i saw a vanity plate. sure i saw other states (NH, MA) but it seemed like i just needed to turn my head and there was another ME vanity plate. maybe the next time i'm up there, i'll start keeping a tally of how many i see.

well, i'll post this and write more later. i need to wind things down if i'm going to try and be in bed early tonight.
