huh...

watching 24 right now and the bass line they have playing in the background music reminds me of both Mission Impossible and the scene where Neo and Trinity are walking into the building to rescue Morpheus.

co-inky-dink?

did my taxes finally (federal yesterday, state today). getting a nice chunk of change back, altho when i did state this evening, i forgot to bring my checkbook to provide acct and routing information, so i'm getting a check mailed for that. of course, once i actually looked over my federal return, there in black and white was my acct and routing information. doh.

but, federal was pretty easy. goto the IRS (scary people) website for a list of sites that let you file electronically for FREE (as in beer). i chose the H&R Block option. it was mildly time consuming to enter all the fool personal data (name, addy, bday, SS#, etc), but once that was entered, it didn't take long.

state was a phone call, altho when i tried with my cellphone, it wouldn't let me past the 'am i a non-custodial parent' (no) so i ended up doing it from work. but then at work, when it asked me to speak my new street, it wouldn't take it, but it did on my cellphone. voice recognition over the phone still needs work.

saturday was a long day for me. RB and I updated 129 laptops which is a pretty time consuming process. one wasn't turned in, and R forgot to run a quick config on 1 laptop, but otherwise we both done good. the only thing i forgot to do was copy the setup files to SW, so i lost an hour while those copied over (i did wonder if it would take less time for me to drive back to the office, copy the files to my laptop and drive back, but opted against it). i put together some scripts that ran things in order. initially 4 of them, but by the afternoon, i had everything in 1 script to the actual update process took little time. it was just the setup/breakdown process that ate the most time. so i got there at 650am, and then left at 610pm. so it was a long day. at least i have wednesday off :)

sunday was a nice day. picked up groceries w/M, people watched at panera. they had a sample of tomato-basil bread (too soft, tasted fruity, not tomato basily). when men took a piece, they would reach in and grab one. when women did it, they would use the tongs that were provided. (i used tongs) only 1 man (a father) used tongs, but as a reward for giving his daughter a piece w/tongs, he took 2 pieces of bread (w/tongs) 3 women (of 10 or so) grabbed a piece w/o tongs. 1 of the women who took her piece by grabbing it did it right after her friend had used the tongs right in front of her (she watched).

M was speculating that for men it was the instant food gratification which was part of the reason why they wouldn't use the tongs. hard to find fault with that. i figure it also that cleanliness thing. it was fun and i found it more entertaining than M did. i used to enjoy sitting and watching people. i just wish i could do it more often. M asks me from time to time what i'd like to do if i didn't have to work anymore and i never know. but i think i'd like to travel around, and sit at sidewalk cafes just people watching. it doesn't have to be sidewalk cafes, but people watching in general i think. when the weather is nice, outside people watching is definately the way to go. nice drink, nice snack, laptop to type down observations. i think i'd like that.

well, i'm tired. can't really catch up until wednesday, so 1 more day of work.

including 1 woman who took her piece with tongs

whose friend took her piece with tongs (right in front of her friend)
