a·bys·mal: (adj) 1. Resembling an abyss in depth; unfathomable.

that is what today is. abysmal.

i'd say the amount of rain we had was going to be biblical, but it's not. that was 40 days and 40 nights if i recall (you know, moses, animals 2 by 2, etc). i think it was 40 days. whatever, i'm not one who really gives a damn about what the bible says unless it's my Eyeball buddies telling the tales.

we're only on day 7 of the rain, with the end looking like wednesday, but it's still hard to say if we won't get some sort of rain then as well. the bulk of the crapass weather we are currently getting is forecast to let up by tomorrow morning, but it doesn't hide the fact that this still sucks.

so a week ago i did the walk for hunger (20 miles) and it was a beautiful day. then that all went away and now it's been crappy ever since. there was a slight break with a little sun on wednesday (at least north of boston) but that gave way to the continual rain we've had since.

commutes on wednesday and thursday both blew chunks (or our word of the moment: abysmal). i made it thru most of 10,000 Days on wed., and all of Act 2 of Wormwood which means it was a pretty bad ride into work.

M & i had dinner in boston last night which was very enjoyable, altho the getting there and walking around in the rain thing sucked. at least by the time we headed to the restaurant, the rain had let up a bit and we didn't get the bottoms of our pants completely soaked.

saw blue man wednesday night w/JJ which was fun as well. i guess if you work in the insurance industry, vendors can be fun. we had 2nd row tickets (read: poncho seats) which was fun, but i was 1/2 hoping we'd have balcony seats so i could get a different view of the show (when M & i saw it a few years ago, our seats were a row or 2 back from where we sat on wednesday). the show had some changes, but they weren't as obvious as i was hoping so it was pretty much the same show i saw a few years ago. that's not to say it wasn't fun - it certainly was, but they certainly cram a lot of people into a small space and being under a poncho (needed only for 1 part in reality) made it a little too warm. the guy next to me bought a $9 Guinness - the most expensive one he ever had. sucker.

those are pretty much the highlights of my week.

so i'll end this little session with the final piece of the Wormwood performance as sung by Molly and Mr. Skull

Epilogue
(Singers)
Give that old time religion
That old time religion
That old time religion
It's good enough for me
[repeats]

So now, before we send you folks home, we want to make sure you understand our little stories are definitely not meant to be seen as Bible Bashing. While The Residents almost completely disagree with those who have held the Bible hostage in recent times, they still feel that the love, hate, power, passion and true depth of the human spirit is reflected in these pages and that's the reason we're still talking about this ancient amount of myths and mumbo jumbo today.

It was good for making millions
Selling platitudes to pilgrims
Who were bar-be-cuing children
So it's good enough for me

It was good for making blisters
On the penises of misters
Who were molesting their sisters
So it's good enough for me.

It was good for Sunday School
Where shame and guilt were taught by fools
Who were only being human
So it's good enough for me

So even if it's just a token
It was good for giving hope
To human spirits that were broken
So it's good enough for me

I've got TKJr singing that now, albeit w/out the Mr. Skull verses.
I won't even start complaining about the 3 gallons of water I vacced out of my car this morning, only to have it fill up again.
