20 miles is quite the hike

well, i managed to do it last year (after being conned into it), and after deciding at the last minute (last monday or tuesday), M & i did the 2006 Walk for Hunger with F. the three of us did it last year, and F was going to do it this year (#9 for her), but M & i waited until late to decide that we were willing to do it, and only if the weather was going to be nice.

to recap: last years weather was rainy, cold and miserable and we were all soaked.

this year: sunny, light breeze, clear skies, ~50 degrees to start, mid-60's when we were done.

score 1 for good weather. it made the walk a whole lot more enjoyable. the other part that made this years more enjoyable was this whole going to the gym thing - while i don't spend a ton of time on the treadmill, i'm in better condition to deal with a walk like this.

plus, it helped having done it last year so i knew where we were going and had a sense of where things were. but we had fun and enjoyed the walk. at the end, we weren't feeling like bow-legged cowboys and the walk back to the car wasn't bad at all. M & i got something to eat in chinatown and walking back to the car after that was harder than it was to get there from boston common. sitting down for a little while tightened us up a little bit, but all in all, we were feeling pretty good at the end.

walking up the stairs to get home wasn't the painful experience it was last year which was nice. the only injury i have is a pair of blisters on my pinky toes, so that's a nice improvement over last year. now i just need to make sure i don't pop them.

so, that's it. like last year, i took pictures of our adventure. so if i get around to it, i may post a few of them.
