much enjoyment this fine evening.
seeing The Machine is about as close as most of us will ever get to see Pink Floyd live again. i was fortunate to see them in foxboro in 1994, as well as see the broadcast of Live8, but beyond that, i live my live Floyd experience thru the live stuff i have. which is an above average collection. so when i saw that The Machine were playing in plymouth, i figured that was close enuff for me to see, and to make it more enjoyable, TK was also interested in going, so off we went.
the drive to his house sucked. once i hit the lenny p bridge, going thru the tunnel (the big dig) was nothing short of a parking lot. it took me 15 minutes (~12 miles) to drive there, and 20 minutes to drive thru the tunnel (~3 miles i think) which should only take a few minutes to go flying thru. like it was when i drove home. anyways, i called TK to let him know that i had just emerged from the tunnel, and it still took me another 40 minutes to get to his house.
and when we left plymouth, it was 1120pm, and i walked into my apartment at 1229am. that includes the 30 mins or so it took to get back to his house. but between shitty traffic and really good traffic which rocked (barring an idiot driver of a rented truck who nearly rolled it at 3 separate times) was the concert.

all in all a pretty good set. i was hoping for something off Animals, but i finally got to see Echoes.
highlights for me were Echoes (*PING*), Tigers (w00t!), Another Brick Suite (i've always loved how they play it straight thru), Fletcher and One of These Days.
the only complaint (such that it is) is Joe's vocals were a little buried in the mix so at times it was hard to hear him, but aside from that, it was fucking cool. really fucking cool. Another Brick Pt.2 and Wish You Were Here had sing alongs which had good crowd response. while we were waiting for the band to return for the encore, some spaz next to me was screaming for Us & Them. then when they started playing Run Like Hell, he started jumping around and there were a few times where i was afraid he'd flail into me (he didn't). another guy at the start of set 2 was playing a pretty pathetic air guitar. it was distracting at times, and i really wanted to smack him over the head with a club, but then i figured they'd have to stop the show, and i'd be arrested. kind of a shame that he couldn't get ticketed for shitty air guitar.
the other thing that bothered me was the need to whistle that high-pitched shrill whistle. it was rather ear piercing. i think any damage that happed to my hearing, is directly related to those stupid whistling idiots and not The Machine.
but, all in all, it was a good time. found The British Beer Company which serves a pretty good black and tan. i just wish i had one around me...
well, it's really late and i'm tired so it's bedtime for me.
