molius musings

finally getting a few moments to look over the slashdot headlines and came across the following:

World's (currently?) smallest MP3 player Apparently only $130 at wallymart, and as the poster quips "Buy one today, so you can lose it within a week!" i'd be interested in knowing how it sounds, but that could be enuff gimick to get me to buy one. capacity of 1GB isn't bad, and i'd want at least that if i'm going for the straight flash version. otherwise, i'm looking at 40GB hard drive ones. current requirements are OGG and FLAC support. OGG is a must, FLAC would be a very nice addition. (IMO, OGG sounds better than MP3 and WMV, and i prefer FLAC for my lossless compression. SHN is good, but i get better results w/FLAC)

also on slashdot was this:

"Vardan Kushnir, a notorious russian spammer who headed the English learning centers, the Center for American English, the New York English Centre and the Centre for Spoken English, was found dead in his Moscow apartment on Sunday, Interfax reported Monday. He died after suffering repeated blows to the head."

all i could think of was the line that was omitted from this post - "Several cans of SPAM were found near the body and in a dumpster outside his apartment." (the link is currently down, the slashdot effect i do believe.)

hmmm...lotsa Wiki today...
