stupid fedex
i need to ship a faulty tape drive back to our vendor and they enclosed a fedex PRP (Package Returns Program) label. so i call to schedule a pickup, but none of the prompts ask for a suite number. it gets our building address right, but as this is an office building, there is more than one company here, so i didn't schedule the pickup figuring i'd use the online system.
and what a mess that is. you have to register to schedule a pickup (ok, that's fine) but during the registration process, it asks for a 9-digit fedex number. what? i don't have that. i just want to register to schedule a pickup, but it won't let me w/o this stupid number. so i cancel the registration and to my amusement, it asks if i'd like to take a survey. normally, i HATE these surveys. but this time i wanted to leave feedback. i doubt that my words will influence anyone, but at least one person will have to read the following:
What suggestions do you have to improve the overall registration process for FedEx Pickup?
it is awful. i have a PRP label and i'm trying to schedule a pickup, but you won't let me because i have to have an account. i attempted to sign up to schedule the pickup, but it prompts me for a 9-digit fedex number that i don't have, nor will ever likely need. if it wasn't for the fact that this is already prepaid, i would use either UPS or DHL as neither one of those have given me a problem in the past when i have needed to schedule a pickup.
at the very least you should have an option to fill in the shipping label and where the pickup is for any prepaid shipping labels because not everyone scheduling a pickup will want or need to jump through your awful hoops just to ship something back to a vendor.
What suggestions do you have to improve the overall registration process of obtaining either a 1) FedEx.com user id and password or 2) a FedEx account number?
do not require a fedex account number when signing up. require it for when someone wants to ship something that isn't a PRP shipment (prompt for shipper number to verify). if they want to ship something w/o a PRP number, and then direct them to whatever they need to do to sign up for your fedex account number.
and for any of those questions you say what your satisfaction level is, i left it as 'Extremely Dissatisfied'
so now i'm disgruntled.
