well, after seeing the news of Dune (cool) i figured i should write about what i wanted to write about originally.
i've noticed lately, when i've gone into the mens room at work, and it is empty, there is this phobia of flushing the urinal. now, the first thing i do is flush, attend to business, and then flush again.
when there is someone else in the bathroom, the odds of the urinal being flushed are pretty high, but empty the room, and all of a sudden, some 'manly' guy develops this phobia of flushing.
it's gross. and i don't want to see it, and i fail to see why there is such a phobia. hell, if you are that scared of flushing, WASH YOUR HANDS afterwards. i do that regardless, but i FLUSH, so i don't care, but i certainly don't like having to flush because some guy develops this phobia of flushing, or is it really that hard to raise your left hand chest high to pull the lever.
i wonder if someone designed a flush lever in the shape and feel of breast if that would help increase the odds of a guy flushing...most guys seem to be able to lift their hands up to chest level if given an opportunity to cop a feel...

huh....
found on Dark Horizons. i certainly never thought that this would happen, but i guess he managed to have a change of heart. there are some fairly significant changes in the story, some of which were approved by Frank Herbert, but then things got chopped into bits which is when Lynch got upset. so it will be interesting to see what he does for the 'director's cut' and hopefully it will help the movie make a little more sense.
1984's "Dune" by Director David Lynch to this day remains a hallmark of the sci-fi genre even though the film has gone through numerous cuts without the director's consent. His approved theatrical version to this day however remains heavily criticised for its truncated feel. As a result al sorts of different versions exist on DVD or video, and talk on an "Extended Edition" scheduled to hit May this year drew little excitement.
That's about to change though. The Digital Bits has done some digging with their sources at Universal and have learned the real reason behind their delay of the "Dune: Extended Edition" DVD (it's currently unscheduled) is that after years of saying he would never revisit "Dune", at the 11th hour director David Lynch decided that he wanted to be involved in the new DVD after all. This means that when it's eventually released, not only is the DVD going to include the original theatrical version of the film... it will include a brand new "director's extended cut" edited by Lynch himself.
i wonder if it will be as long as the Sci-Fi version...

hmm
i found a way to post here via email (read the FAQ, they have directions, pretty easy too) but it still seems to find a way to screw up the settings. oh well.
today was good and bad. the good was i was able to actually enjoy the nice weather we had today (it even reached 60 where i was), but the bad part was i had to enjoy it driving between 2 offices.
one office (close to home) was getting new rugs, so RB and i were rebuilding their PCs, and tending to that, but in typical fashion, everything was running behind, so there wasn't a whole lot that i could do w/o being underfoot, so after moving their server to a real secure location (by the printers) i headed back here, while RB stays there to continue the process of putting things back together. i felt a little guilty leaving him there, but there really wasn't much i could do.
while there, he mentioned getting a call from CL who informed him that our other office was still being plagued by gremlins. unfortunately, there wasn't much we could do over the phone, so i left it alone. but as time progressed while i was here, it became clear that i may need to go there to at least take a look at things and see what i could do (if anything)
as it turns out, i was able to trace the problem and get the gremlin excised it seems. tomorrow will be the real test, but so far everything is looking good. apparently, the cable that was connecting the switch to all the people being affected by this, to the switch that was providing the overall connection to the world was flakey, and once i replaced that, everything seemed to fall back into place as one would expect. this of course could have been avoided had i been able to get new cables when RB and i rewired the place, but that's a story for another day. we may be able to get it done with the new phone system which will need to pretty much remove all hardware we use with upgraded and fancy hardware. DH said there is a chance we won't have to do the rewire, as it would be done when the new phones are installed. (VoIP)
so, i get back here 330ish, and now 2 hours later, i'm counting the minutes until 6pm when i can get out of dodge. granted, i'm on call this week, so i'm not really off the clock, but so far no one has called me, so i've been nice and easy. so far, i've been lucky when i've had the pager. i've only had a few calls, and nothing that was overly serious.

fun fun fun
had a good weekend all things considered. actually, looking back, it wasn't bad at all.
i was able to get my haircut (snuck in an appt w/my usual stylist...yes, molius has a hair stylist)
closed out my safe deposit box in my former town of residence (prompted by FLAB's decision to charge me money for it)
didn't get paged this weekend by Train Wreck, altho apparently some nurse paged the pager and never received any response. funny that, the pager never went off for me, so what pager were they paging? besides, i bought a brand new battery for our pager when i saw that it was running low, just to make sure that i didn't miss a page. but i have got to love DH's attitude.
D: did you get paged?
Mol: nope. bought a new battery, but no pages.
D: ok, thanks.
and talk about your timing - i started writing about not being paged and DH comes over to ask me about it. heh.

just submitted my hours for having the pager last week. the next time i get it, i'll get the entire weeks worth of pager money rather than broken into 2 separate payments.
went out to dinner with M & F. we F wanted steak, but Outback had a 60-70 min wait, so we ended up trying a place in Bedford called Lemon Tree. wasnt' bad, altho M & i grossly misjudged portions on the sushi we ordered. we thought it was going to be sushi (fish on rice balls) but instead it was sashimi (just pieces of fish). now, the fish was pretty good, and it was the best octopus we've had (not overcooked and rubbery like most places seem to do it). plus the fish was fresh, and M didn't find the mackerel as strong as it usually it. she doesn't care for it too much, but found this to be better than most. (mackerel has a strong fishy flavor, and is stronger the less fresh it is, but this time it wasn't as strong)
stopped by Marshall's afterwards. i was suprised to see they had suits in my size (43R) as i rarely see my size. in the past i've generally gone with a 42L or 44R, but when i got a new jacket a little while ago, we found the 43R was the best fit for me. both suits weren't bad, but a little pricey. plus i don't really need one at this very moment, so i passed.
it was a nice evening all around.
sunday i slept later than i have in a long time which was nice, moreso because i didn't get paged by Train Wreck. got the paper. M & i went to lunch at Joe's, which was a rather lackluster experience. we split the burger, and wanted a salad rather than fries (trying to address
that sticky-outy-tummy syndrome) and waitress looked at us as tho we had 5 heads. our soda was pretty much flat, and we weren't even offered a basket of bread to nibble on while we waited. after 20 or so minutes, both of us are starting to be more than mildly annoyed, watching the tip percentage drop like a stone. finally, after 25-30 minutes, our waitress comes over with our buffalo tenders and asks if it is alright if she brings our burgers out at the same time. (yes as
we were hungry and very annoyed at this point) the saving grace of the meal (not much of one given our entire experience there) was that our burger was cut in half and we each had the requested salad on our plates. so, that was nice. we had been figuring that we'd get everything on a plate and we'd have to divide it up, plus ask for a second plate, but they did it for us. so that was the only real saving grace of the meal.
the burger was ok, the salad was heavy on the iceberg, and the buffalo tenders were lacking any real flavor. they were also pretty cool, but that was more because we ate our burger first, so they sat for a little while, but even so, there was next to no zing, no flavor. most disapointing.
bought some maple syrup at TJMaxx afterwards (i only buy the real stuff, none of this corn syrup based maple syrup.) cost me nothing as i used a gift card i got a long time ago, so that made it even better. and it was produced in vermont too, so i won't be disowned by a friend of the family were she to find out i bought canadian based maple syrup.
spun thru chez target, picked up exciting napkins and magnetic picture frames for the few pictures on my fridge which have started to curl (which has been driving me nuts of late) so they are all now flat and i am happy.
simple dinner of tomato spinach soup (homemade - trader joe's veggie stock works wonderfully for this) and grilled cheese w/tomato.
new simpsons was above average i thought, altho the ending was rather weak and abrupt. that unfortunately seems to be the trend of late. i liked the beginning when they got back home after taking a drive and bart had lisa open the envelope he gave her at the beinning which had a drawing of homer stuck under the garage door, and of course that's exactly what was going on. pretty funny.
not much else going on these days. my car is no longer rejected as i got that taken care of this morning on the way into work. it failed the emissions test, so i had that fixed last month. that only took a few mins and it came out with a spiffy '2' sticker. fortunately, the re-inspection only take a few mins as they are just checking to make sure whatever failed was fixed. all the safety stuff passed with flying colors (colours?) last month which is why i have a '2' rather than a '3', but that's ok. i got it done inside the 60 days required and now i can forget about it for a year. or until the next problem arises that will cause it to fail. i'm shooting for an in/out/pass next year. this is 2 years in a row it failed, so it might be nice if it passes next time.
oh well. things are quiet at work right now, but that will change pretty quickly, so i should get back to work.

around 530 i just woke up for no real apparent reason and i've been up since. i tried going back to sleep, but my stomach started to rumble and just wouldn't stop, so here i am, your humble and tired Molius.
at least i was able to get home an hour early last night. one of our offices is getting new rugs in the next few days, so i had to head up there to help break down the PCs, which obviously took longer than i was hoping. i was overly optimistic that this would be a surgical strike and i'd be able to go home by 330-4. that didn't happen, but still, getting home an hour early and in sunshine was nice.
work has been busy this week, and things are only going to get more complicated as we see to getting a new phone system (VoIP) and the CIO has decided that he wants Sr. Management to get Crackberries. that's going to be nothing short of a disaster, but our CIO isn't going to see it that way.
at least we can say the following: i'm sorry, however we do not have a crackberry, nor have we actually seen one, so you are going to have to call the CIO for help.
something tells me after a few times of this, our CIO is going to get at least one for the department. which then pushes us closer to that 15 user threshold that will cause all kinds of problems...like the 16th user is going to cost $3300, but i'll leave that story for the day when it happens...and it will.
