hahahaha...

not like many people care who read this, but i thought this was funny. i'm looking thru the reviews of Tool's show at Coachella last night (4/30/06) and one person said the quote of the night was the following (not by MJK):

Guard 1: "Look at all this knuckleheads. What band is coming up next anyways?"
Guard 2: "Tool"
Guard 1: "...Oh shit."

hahahahahaha....guard 1 obviously knew what he was in for.

only 3 songs of 10,000 days were played, and initial impressions appear to be positive. so those curious, here's the setlist:

Tool
Coachella
4/30/06

01. Stinkfist
02. The Pot
03. Forty-six & 2
04. Jambi
05. Schism
06. Eon Blue Apocalypse
07. The Patient
08. Sober
09. Lateralus
10. Vicarious
11. Ænema

hey eva - MJK is sporting one hell of a mohawk

heh

i was complaining on saturday about how much scalpers are charging for tickets on the upcoming Tool mini-tour. the voice of Tool himself posted the following to their board.

THE FOLLOWING IS A MESSAGE FROM MJK

"Many people are complaining about the sold out shows. Relax. We're doing a full on tour at the end of the summer which goes almost everywhere. And in the new year, we'll go almost everywhere else. These are just a handful of warm-up dates. There's nothing much we can do to out wit the scalpers. If you have patience, just don't buy the tickets from them. just wait until August. Screw them. Believe me, if I could design a virus that would leave scalpers totally impotent, mute, and penniless, I would. Same goes for lawyers. (I have a whole different virus in mind for mini vans. More on that later.)"

glad he's not happy about it. i can wait until later this year. i'm sure i'll be listening to a whole bunch of shows shortly, and it won't be long before Coachella (3 days from now).

  • oh give me a fucking break. that's one of my all time favorite beverages...

  • the impatience of drivers

i'm not the most patient driver sometimes, and anyone who has ridden with me when i get irritated knows that a flury swears go flying pretty quickly. (commuting is almost opposite for me, i've found resigning myself to the fact that it's going to be slow has done wonders for my stress levels while going to/from work. plus good music helps, so it's only people who do bonehead things that bug me.)

anyways, per my usual sunday morning ritual, i head out to pick up the paper and my coffee. as i'm waiting my turn to pull into the parking lot, there are 3 cars heading towards me. the first car pulls into the lot. the second car slows down to give the guy room to turn so that he doesn't rear end him. after the first car has pulled into the lot, the second car continues rolling slowly, beginning to speed up.

not fast enuff for car #3 who hits his horn and makes a gesture to get going. i chuckle, but i couldn't help but think that this guy hasn't figured out that it's SUNDAY and on SUNDAY there are these things that drive called SUNDAY DRIVERS. they tend to have slower reactions, drive more slowly, etc, etc. what, are you late for your 3 hour bible-brow beating? jackass. you couldn't wait 3 seconds for car #2 to speed up, sheesh. i might make a comment about how that person is being pokey, but i'm not going to tap my horn...

then, as i'm heading back, paper, coffee and muffin aquired, there's a stretch of straight road that people have a tendancy to zip down (it's a 40mph zone). when it comes to driving around town, i tend to be a little more respectful (laugh if you like, but i prefer not to zip around small towns), especially on quiet sunday mornings. this nitwit decides that he wants to go zipping down (opposite direction of me) towards 93 and not a second after he blows by one of the side streets, do i see the familiar front end of the local police cruiser. he makes a right to follow and barely around the corner the familiar flashing blue lights are on.

so the lesson of the day is this:

sunday + rush = not so good idea

maybe there really is something to being a sunday driver. so relax folks, take a lesson from the sunday drivers - plan ahead, take your time and enjoy driving. sunday is supposed to be a lazy day.

    follow up question

jennkitty's reply to my question got me thinking about another question or two related to the question i posed last night.

are there some people that you always tell where you are? and why can you be completely honest with one person and not another? what are the rules you use to determine who you WILL tell and who you MAY tell?

and in answer to jennkitty's response, she asks, i say.

i stopped by b&n tonight and had a thought when i heard a conversation that went something like this:

*phone rings* (stupid mp3 ringer, stupid song)

    hi.

    (obviously asked where are you?)

i'm stuck in traffic on 95, there's some construction.

(when are you going to be home?)

i'll be home in a little while

instead, she was looking over the scifi section with several books in her arm. it got me thinking, how often when someone calls us, do we tell the person calling the truth about where we are? i know i'm guilty of not admitting where i am at all times, but how often do we do it? or how frequently do we tell the other person where we aren't?

    that was thoroughly depressing...

lunch that is. i'm rather partial to having lunch with our little group, but TK is off on paternity, DC was in this morning, but in light of her current condition, i wasn't suprised to find out she went home early (at least she tries to come in), and RB is in SW doing deploys.

so lunchtime arrives and there is no one to talk with. none of the usual bitching about co-workers. none of the usual talking in our own speak. no tales of pinkeye and crabcake, or of sykolyn. no stupid user stories. nothing.

there's even good birthday cake (so several people have told me) and i'm just not interested (aside from being full from lunch). i thought uncle dunkin would provide a little boost, but even he's striking out this afternoon. oh well.

hopefully tomorrow won't be an IRV day...

    ohboyohboyohboyohboy....

i just listened (and am continuing to listen) to Vicarious (first single off of 10,000 Days). it's going to be hitting the radio on monday, but as i never really listen to the radio for anything other than NPR, i wanted to hear it. and i like it. a lot. i really like it. really really. i can't even really describe it other than to say that it's beautiful.

i had no ideas of what to expect for this album and the only thing i heard was a brief review of the album as heard by a small group of people (DJ's, press) in australia and the album was described as being 'heavy'

if this is the start, there is no question that this will be a continuing evolution, picking up right where Lateralus ended and mutating into something more.

May 2nd seems like a long way away....

TK - zombie and vampires are mentioned.
Eva - HHH may be god, but MJK IS G-O-D.
